STIX AND JONES - about

about angie
Angie Jones is an American artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She uses painting, video, and sculpture to investigate how technology invades our lives. Angie deconstructs the work using faceted surfaces (like low polygon video game art) to create something new from something old and make it new again. She maintains one foot in the past and another in the future and questions how we witness art and images.
Angie holds 25+ years of experience in Visual Effects and Animation, working as an Animation Supervisor and Animator for studios such as Sony Pictures Imageworks, Cinesite, Disney, and feature franchises like Stuart Little, Xmen, Pan’s Labyrinth & The Smurfs. Before this, she dedicated her time working to Video Games like Red Dead Redemption, Oddworld Abe’s Exoddus, and Dino Crises. Her experiences working in Visual Effects, Video Games, and Animation inspires the “peak shift” palette, faceted surface, and distinctive portrayal of personality through paint, video, animation, and sculpture.
Digital artworks are an extension of the physical work in the studio. Sometimes the physical informs the digital, and sometimes the digital direct the physical. The process is never a straight line. In the end, the work maintains one foot in the past and another in the future and questions how we perceive art and images by tracing a loop historically through representation, technology, and science

Angie is especially interested in new media. Inspired by new art spaces through blockchain, Angie explores NFT utilities and the Web 3.0 landscape. Angie’s first tokens on the blockchain sold out in under twenty minutes on the Ethereum blockchain @OpenSea, January 2022. Angie is currently working on a new drop @BEASTMOBnft The Beast Mob for Summer 2022, consisting of “one of one” masterworks and new PFP collections conceived from unique storytelling, lore, worlds, and Metaverse.
Jones was featured at Miami Art Basel in December 2017 as a Pantone trending artist issuing two limited edition prints to celebrate the year’s color – Ultra-Violet- through Saatchi Art’s support. Jones’s work has been the subject of a solo exhibition at Prohibition Gallery, Los Angeles (2014). She has exhibited in the US and abroad, including galleries and museums: Rhythms & Visions Expanded Live Show @ USC (2018), Huntington Beach Art Center (2016), Ball State University Atrium Gallery (2015), Laguna Art Museum (2015), Q Art Salon (2015), Prohibition Gallery (2014), Flower Pepper Gallery (2014), Bedford Gallery (2014), Cella Gallery (2103), Fullerton Art Museum (2012), The Chandler Center for Art in Arizona (2011), Rockford Art Museum (2011) and James Gray Gallery (2008). Her work has been exhibited nationally, internationally, and in numerous printed publications, including features in LA Weekly; Apartment Therapy, Platinum Cheese, Quiet Lunch, Get Inspired, Examiner, and The Wall Street Journal. Jones earned a degree in Electronic Arts from the Atlanta College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Laguna College of Art + Design.
My work activates through the digital and the physical.”
