STIX AND JONES - about

BIO

Angie Jones (b. 1968 Tupelo, MS USA) is an American artist living and working in Los Angeles, California.  She grew up in the southern part of the US but quickly made her way to California to work in animation and visual effects. Having made her mark in motion pictures since relocating to Los Angeles in 1994, Jones has seamlessly transitioned her mastery into painting, sculpture, video projections, Augmented Reality, and Digital Art.

Currently represented by Corey Helford Gallery in downtown Los Angeles, Angie is part of the first two shows for 2024 at the gallery. Featured at Miami Art Basel in 2017 for her Pantone-inspired art, Angie Jones unveiled limited edition Ultra-Violet prints through Saatchi Art's backing. Her work has graced solo exhibitions like Prohibition Gallery (2014) and showcased in venues worldwide, including Rhythms & Visions Expanded Live Show @ USC (2018) and the Huntington Beach Art Center (2016). Her pieces have traveled far and wide, from the Ball State University Ned and Gloria Griner Art Gallery (2015) to the Rockford Art Museum (2011). Her creations have garnered attention in LA Weekly, Apartment Therapy, The Wall Street Journal, and more. Jones holds a degree in Electronic Arts from the Atlanta College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Laguna College of Art + Design.

Angie Jones is featured at Corey Helford Gallery in two prominent exhibitions for 2024:

"Art Collector Starter Kit 10 (X)" Jan 13 to Feb 17, 2024

"Care Bears Forever" Feb 24 Opening 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

STATEMENT

Angie Jones, also known as Stix and Jones, is an American artist using painting, video, and sculpture to investigate how technology invades our lives. Angie deconstructs the work using faceted surfaces (like low polygon video game art) to create something new from something old and make it new again. She maintains one foot in the past and another in the future and questions how we witness art and images.

The confines of color and form in Jones’ work fight for space on the canvas and serve as a conduit between physical and digital dimensions. The dance between traditional and innovative informs her process, nudging us to reconsider how history, technology, and science shape our connection with art. A recurring theme in her work is acknowledging digital culture as a still-life reaction to our surroundings while experiencing the influence of media and technology on our collective and individual brain circuitry. Angie’s work activates through the digital and the physical.

Angie Jones lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, she is represented by Corey Helford Gallery.
